Patton's Third Army wheeled to its left and counterattacked against the German flank, relieving Bastogne within days, but the surprise German attack was not fully repulsed until the weather broke, allowing U.S. fighter aircraft to destroy German armor.
In other words, it is entirely invalid to assume that non-combat troops, especially those "in transition," will not be required to fight.
In the Korean War, U.S. Army soldiers were routed twice, first during North Korea's initial invasion of 25 June 1950, and again when Chinese troops entered the war in large numbers starting in October 1950. As I wrote before, the discipline of U.S. Army soldiers had been allowed to rot because of the 1946 Doolittle Report which allowed soldiers to essentially ignore officers, with wounded soldiers left behind to be bayoneted by North Koreans and Chinese. U.S. Marines, on the other hand, had not been sissified and therefore brought their wounded back lashed to trucks and jeeps.
In other words, the U.S. military is not a social experiment, not to mention that people who are confused about their sex, one of the most basic human properties, are not people to whom we should entrust with weapons. Lives will be lost if Doolittle Report 2.0 is foolishly implemented.
And we shall soon be tested by China, which announced that the best the U.S. can hope for in a clash with North Korea is a neutral China.
